Starman Virtua tennis 2009

To start of Id like to say that you do need wii motion plus to play this game to its full potential. It really improves gameplay and makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. now having said that using wii motion plus doesn't make the game any easier. the learning curve is actually kinda steep and I advise you all to go into the virtual coach mode first to get all the techniques down. for someone who played a lot of wii sports tennis it will take a while to get rid of those "wii sports reflexes". the game is not as forgiving due to the more precise controls. There are two ways to control your player one way is to use the nunchuck and the other is to just us a wii-mote. with the wii mote your player will automatically get in position but u can also move him by using the control pad. I prefer using the wii mote only because it gives u much better control over your shots and the nunchuck doesnt get in the way. to do a basic forhand bring your arm back just like you would in real tennis and then go foward when the ball is close enough. the speed of your swing as well as the direction will influence where the ball goes. to slice simply turn the wii mote while turning back and bring the wii mote down just like you would with a real racket. lobs are done buy pointing the wii mote down and bringing it up with a slightly exaggerated motion but it works. once you get the controls down the game really opens up feels really natural.
moving on to presentation the game looks pretty good and although not photo realistic I prefer this over the grand slam cartoon style, it makes it feel more authentic. the single player mode is enough to keep you busy for a while. YOu start out by creating a character and then move on to a robust world tour mode where you can enter tournaments win cash and buy things for your character. there is also an online feature of world tour where you can face of against other real players. I have not had the chance to try this out as yet though.
outside of world tour there is also multiplayer where you and a friend can play as well as online multiplayer where you can play with people from around the world. while you can play random ranked matched there are also friend codes so u can easily hook up with friends. the game is also packed full of goofy mini games to test your skills

Default Re: Virtua tennis 2009

While not tested on a Wii, the game is easy enough for anyone to pick up. The idea behind the mechanics are simple and straight forward. The only think lacking is the computer AI, which continuously falls for the server/volley combination. This isn't only a problem in VT09, but in all current tennis titles.
