Anybody else every play Base Wars for the NES? Even though this didn't get very much accolades, this was an AWESOME GAME!
The basic theme was a regular baseball game but with robots. But, there were no "forced outs", when a player got tagged, the two robots had to fight it out. Each robot had health and when they lost too many fights they would explode and be eliminated from the game. Then as you won games and got money, you hook up your robots with armor, lazer swords, lazers, guns, and all other types of weapons. My favorite was the "battle gimmick", no idea what it was supposed to be but it basically shot the robots fist out and you could punch the other robot to death easily, lol.
You could also buy other parts for hitting, pitching, catch and stuff like that, till basically you could hit a homerun every time.
The game did have a glitch though, when you maxed out your pitchers fastball you could hit the batter every time and after so rotations they would eventually explode and have to forfeit the game. Other than that it had pretty good AI for nes. And two player mode was awesome.
If you havent heard of it you defintely check it out on an emulater. One of the lesser known gems of the NES system. I think you can even play it online multiplayer now.
