Default Nintendo doesn't look back at the N64 very fondly

In the latest Ask Iwata, Satoru Iwata and Atsutomo Nakagawa, director at Treasure(Sin and Punishment, Gunstar Heroes) take a look back at the Nintendo 64 and squirm a little.

Nakagawa: …Yes. That’s why we thought we could work on the Nintendo 64 too. But, the Nintendo 64 … sure was something (bitter laughter).

Iwata: (laughs) It was a machine that was hard to create things for and didn’t work at all.

Nakagawa: Y-Yes. It didn’t work at all…

So, apparently the 64 isn't one of Nintendo's shiniest moments. I dunno. There were quite a few 64 games that I completely adored. Odd to hear them say it didn't work at all. Maybe they meant that it was so hard to develop for that they couldn't really get what they wanted out of it?

Same here! Mario Kart, Goldeneye, Conker, Rouge Squadron, Zelda, I could go on and on. Maybe the statement is out of context or something. I don't know.

That's pretty odd, I personally think the 64 was one of Nintendo's greater moments, I mean, who didn't enjoy the likes of Mariokart64, Banjo n Kazooie, Goldeneye64 and not to mention one of their larger successes, Super Smash Bros.
Heck... looking back I can't think of a 64 game aside Superman that I didn't enjoy.
