PS3 LittleBigPlanet2

In October of 2008, a fresh, new game studio called Media Molecule released LittleBigPlanet. With only 1 previous game made, they would've had no idea what was ahead of them. Little did they know, they had created a community that lasted for years. With a unique level creator and new DLC content constantly coming out, LittleBigPlanet was a game that never got old.

In January of 2011, Media Molecule reinvented the unique experience that LittleBigPlanet had, giving the player new tools and objects that allowed for players to enjoy a never-ending stream of levels. Instead of making platformers, new introductions like the Microchip, which allowed players to make intense wire-coding in a little square you can pin anywhere, and the Controlinator, which allowed to to control functions directly with your controller, Sackbots, which are basically NPC versions of the player which can be programmed with AI, opened a gate to other genres, such as racing, RPG and even FPS! When players are done with the 50 story levels that come with the game, they can connect to the PlayStationNetwork and play levels other players have created and submitted! Then, they can create their own levels for the community to play!

Gameplay [9/10]

I don't really have a say on this one. There are always good levels on LittleBigPlanet2, but there are also bad ones. It's a mixed, unpredictable bag.

Making a LittleBigPlanet level? Don't make a fake giveaway level, you're just giving the community a bad reputation.

Controls [8/10]

With the new addition of the previously-mentioned Controlinator, controls in LittleBigPlanet became smoother than ever. In the original LittleBigPlanet, all player-controlled functions had to be controlled with levers and buttons, and since you need to bode to physics to get at them, they were kind of slow. With the Controlinator, reactions are almost instant! However, making a level is not a piece of cake, and since none of the levels are coded with direct text, sometimes the systems may jam up. Plus, all objects in levels are at the mercy of physics and may snap or break. Whether or not you can make a smooth level is determined by how good of a creator you are.

Graphics [8/10]

Making a level look pretty is one of the hardest challenges of creating a level in LittleBigPlanet2. Amateur creators may make a level colorless with only one material, but if you know your stuff, you can create masterpieces with colorful assortments of materials, stickers and decorations.

A really good level looks like this!

Sound [9/10]

LittleBigPlanet comes with a variety of pre-made songs that you can put in your levels, but in LittleBigPlanet2, not only do you have some more pre-made songs at your level-making arsenal, but now you have the Musical Sequencer. From a variety of instruments, you can create your own music. Not only must you have a creative mind to make a LittleBigPlanet level, now you must have a musical mind.

You can become a songwriter with LittleBigPlanet2.

Lasting Appeal[10/10]

Let me quote a saying from Kevin Butler, Sony's fictional marketer:
Quote:
You don't finish LittleBigPlanet2. You might think your Sackboy's adventure is over, but every day, thousands of new racing, action and sports games are loaded onto the PlayStationNetwork that are better than bacon-wrapped cupcakes.
It's true. Every day new levels from curious, glory-seeking creators and well-known, beloved creators are uploaded onto the PlayStationNetwork, providing an endless stream of content. So, don't put down that controller just yet. You can keep playing the endless stream of what is now almost 6 million levels from creators around the globe until your thumbs hurt. So, play your heart out- LittleBigPlanet2 will never get old- until LittleBigPlanet3 comes out, that is.

Creating levels might not be easy as the alphabet, but until you get the hang of it, enjoy the levels of people who have. It's a fun, never-ending experience.

I give it a 9
