Chapter 1: The Beginning

Mario woke up in a world of blank whiteness. There was nothing around him but the color white. With no idea how he got there, he just walked around. And around. And around. After a while, he found a strange device. A portal gun. He had no idea how to use the device, but it fit around his hand. He activated it, and a portal opened on the floor. Inside was a robotic place of sorts, with rotating, pulling and pushing mechanisms everywhere. He jumped in.
“Hello and welcome to the Aperture Science Cent-hey, you’re not Test Subject.99.101.6345! I guess you’ll have to do.” This robotic voice emanated from every direction, as if the entire building, or whatever he was in, was a robot itself. From what Mario experienced, it probably was. “I see you have obtained the portal device already. These tests just get easier and easier...” Mario had no idea what were the intentions of the robotic voice, but since there was no other thing to do (than go back to the blank whiteness, of course, but that would be boring) he just decided to go along with it.
“Your goal is to reach that exit.” Mario could easily see what the voice was talking about: there was a circular mechanism right over a ledge on the other side of the room. He just had to walk to it... but as he walked on top of the ledge, he saw that he was blocked by a giant, steaming pool of acid. “It may seem impossible,” said the voice, ” but with your Portal Gun you wield in your hand-” but Mario quickly interrupted the robot with a quick double-jump over the obstacle. “What? But how? That’s not- you can’t- the laws of science forbid such witchcraft! Now, finish my tests before you fry my circuitry.”

Sonic was lazily enjoying a chili dog on a hot summer day. It had been a month since his arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman, had executed another one of his evil schemes. Tails, his buddy for a long time, came up to him and asked “Hey, Sonic! What do you want to do today?” “Eh, I dunno.” Little did they know, Sonic was right. Today, they were going to have their most epic adventure.
